You must own optical fiber modem equipment to set up your NETGEAR router with Spark NZ Fibre or ultra-fast broadband (UFB).

To set up your router if you have Spark NZ Fibre or UFB:

  1. Connect your optical modem equipment to your router's Internet port.
  2. Launch a web browser from a computer or mobile device that is connected to the network.
  3. Enter http://www.routerlogin.net.
    A login window opens.
  4. Enter the router admin user name and password.
    The user name is admin. The default password is password. The user name and password are case-sensitive.
    The BASIC Home page displays.
  5. Select ADVANCED > Internet Setup.
    The Internet Setup page displays.
  6. In the Does your Internet connection require a login? section, select the Yes radio button.
  7. From the Internet Service provider menu, select PPPoE.
  8. In the Login and Passwordfields, enter the following:
  9. From the Connection Mode menu, select Always On.
  10. Click the Apply button.
    Your settings are saved.
  11. Select ADVANCED > Advanced Setup.
  12. Select VLAN/Bridge Settings or VLAN/IPTV Setup.
    The VLAN/Bridge Settings page or VLAN/IPTV Setup page displays.
  13. Select the Enable VLAN/Bridge Setup or Enable VLAN/IPTV Setup check box.
  14. Select the By VLAN tag group radio button.
  15. In the Internet VLAN tag group section, make sure that the VLAN ID is set to 10 and the Priority is set to 0.
  16. If your router includes Ethernet aggregate ports, such as the Nighthawk X8 AC5300 Tri-Band WiFi Router Model R8500, do the following:
    a. Select ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > Ethernet Port Aggregation.
    b. Select the Disable radio button.
    c. Click the Apply button.
        Your settings are saved.
  17. Check if you can access the Internet.
  18. If your router cannot connect to the Internet, reboot the router by clicking the ADVANCED tab and clicking the Reboot button.
