Vigor167 Series ADSL/VDSL Configuration for New Zealand Chorus Circuits

Step 1. Connect to the Web Interface. 

Connect your computer to the Vigor167 with an Ethernet cable.  Ensure your computer is obtaining an IP address automatically. Open your Web Browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox), enter https://192.168.1.1/ into the address bar, and press the Enter key on your keyboard. 

You should be asked for a username and password. Enter admin into both fields (the password may show as dots or stars) and click the Login button.

Step 2. Choose the operation mode

You can operate the DV167 either in bridge mode (modem only for use with another router) or in router mode.

Step 3. Run through the wizard

Once you select an operating mode start the wizard by clicking ‘next’ to run you through the configuration options.

LAN settings

Set your desired LAN IP address e.g. 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0 and if in router mode enable/disable the DHCP server as desired. Apply the wizard settings and reboot

Step 4. Check the dashboard

After rebooting login to your router IP address and check the dashboard for an internet connection in the WAN status section. Note that DSL will take around 1-2 minutes to negotiate a connection before you will see anything populated here.

Router mode WAN status should show a PPPoE connection and IP address/gateway.

Modem mode check the DSL status, this should have a status of ‘showtime’. Configure your internal router according to your ISP requirements. VLAN tagging on the internal router is not a requirement as the Draytek will do this on your device’s behalf.
