Since July 2019 Qnap diagnostic support files have been able to be generated from their Helpdesk app.

Please follow these directions to generate a diagnostic file dump also known as a log dump for SnapperNet support staff to help investigate issues with you:

  1. From the QNAP WebUI desktop open App Centre and search for an app named Helpdesk in the QTS Essentials category and install or upgrade it to version 3.0.0 or above.
  2. If this does not exist in your App Centre then see the notes below regarding the previous log dump methods.
  3. Open the Helpdesk app listed in My Apps or on the WebUI desktop.
  4. Expand the Diagnostics Tool menu on the left hand side and select Download Logs.
  5. Next click the Download button and wait for the dump data to be collated.
  6. The dump file will then be downloaded in your browser. After it's been downloaded you can send that file to support@snappernet.co.nz or QNAP support for analysis.

Previously diagnostics were done in a separate Diagnostic Tool app from QNAP.  This is how that was done.

  1. Search the 'App Centre' for an app names 'Diagnostic Tool' and install.
  2. If this does not exist in your App Centre then see the notes below & come back to step 3 once complete.
  3. Look for Qnap Diagnostic Tool in My Apps listed and “Launch” it
  4. New tab/windows will be opened, and you should click on 'Dump Logs'
  5. Next click the 'Dump' button
  6. Finally Click on Download link which will be shown and send the file to support@snappernet.co.nz

If you already have a support ticket open please make sure the original ticket ID is included in the subject header of the email so that the issue can be tracked to completion.

NOTE: If the diag tool is not present in your App Centre it may be that your firmware is too old to support it. In this case download the following to your local computer http://downloads.snappernet.co.nz/QNAP/QNAP_Diagnostic_Tool_0.4.0_20130923.qpkg then follow the instructions below:

  1. Open the Web UI of the NAS and open 'Application Center'
  2. Hit on the button 'Install Manually', located in the upper-right corner of the window
  3. Browse the file you just downloaded and click on install button
  4. Go and resume step 3 of the previous list
